Project Launch Workshop organized at Hotel Park View, Chandigarh on 20, August 2009 An introductory workshop on “Implementing SIDBI’s Business Development Services (BDS) in the Mohali-Panchkula-Chandigarh engineering cluster was organized on 20 August, 2009 at Hotel Park View, Chandigarh. The workshop was organized to introduce a new initiative in the Chandigarh Tricity to be implemented by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) under the BDS promotion program of SIDBI. The workshop was well attended by more than 100 industry delegates from the Chandigarh Tricity apart from the BDS providers. The three year project aims at improving the access of various BDS to more than 2000 engineering MSME units existing in the region. The project plans to focus on the machining, steel fabricating and fasteners manufacturing units in the region. During the initial phase, TERI plans to build the capacities of MSMEs and BDS providers in the field of product quality, marketing, energy efficiency, skill up gradation and a few other related fields. Apart from the representatives of TERI, who presented in detail the broad objectives and the activities of the program, the workshop was also addressed by Mr. Vivek Malhotra, DGM SIDBI and Mr. Anindya Pal, AGM SIDBI Chandigarh branch. Other speakers in the workshop included Mr. P. Thareja, Professor PEC, Mr. B.S. Anand President-Mohali Industries Association, Mohali, Mr. Prem Aggarwal , Executive member, Chandigarh Screw Manufacturers Association and Mr. A.L. Aggarwal, President, Chandigarh Industrial Fasteners Association. |
