Second CCC Meeting

Mr Prosanto Pal welcomed all the participants to the meeting and highlighted the main issues to be discussed during the meeting. Mr Vivek Malhotra commended the efforts of the project team for successfully taking up the project and expressed his satisfaction over the project progress. He suggested following points for project consideration:

Project should convenience the cluster entrepreneurs to get ISI certification and should make efforts that minimum 10 entrepreneurs submit papers to BIS.
Applauding the workshop on export promotion & documentation organised during November, requested the office bearers of respective industry associations to encourage their members for exports.
Requested TERI to look out the possibilities of increasing the number of energy audits to be conducted during this financial year.
Emphasized the importance of setting up Common Facility Centre (CFC) for fasteners manufacturing units of Chandigarh.

TERI project team made a presentation regarding the various activities undertaken by the project and provided an overview of the forthcoming events. In the discussions that followed, the participants focused on the following major issues:

Setting up of portable testing facilities in the cluster: Mr B S Anand, President, Mohali Industries Association expressed that the portable facility should also include testing of non-ferrous material.
Benefits of energy audit: Members desired that the audit recommendations should be practical and easily implementable. Members also nominated four units for energy audits during this financial year. For capacity building on energy efficiency aspects, the project requested the office bearers of industry associations to nominate individuals who can be trained to undertake energy efficiency studies in the cluster
Setting up of common manufacturing facility for fastener units: Mr Rakesh Goyal, Secretary, The Clusters Co-operative Industrial Society Limited, Derabassi detailed about their initiative of fasteners cluster proposed to be set up at Derabassi and requested the project to support their initiative. Members desired that the project should look out for the synergies with on-going initiative and possibilities of support. Mr. Dr. V.P Gupta, Consultant, Foundry Industry offered his consultancy services free of cost for the Derabassi fasteners cluster

Mr A. L Aggarwal requested the project to expedite the process of NABL accreditation of CITCO-IDFC lab. On the request by Mr. B S Anand to upload software for production planning & inventory management on the project website it was informed that this activity can be taken up during the next year action plan. The members expressed their satisfaction with the project progress and the initiative for the development of industry and Business Development Services (BDS) in the cluster.
